Happy End for Max

After a season full of deep hits Max can now look ahead very confidently. Max signed a contract to ride with Ten Kate Honda in the World Superbike Championship for the 2010 season last Monday in the headquarter of the team in Nieuwleusen. Max has already spent much time of his career on Honda motorcycles and now returns to the Honda family.

Max will meet his new challenge for the first time during the two day test in Portimao after the final round of the Championship. There are also no doubts regarding the physical condition of Max. Specialist doctors, including a member of the FIM’s Medical Commission, have given Max a clean bill of health and have stated that this season’s injuries represent no barrier to his immediate return to racing.

Max: “I’m so relieved that there is clarity about my future now. I’m feeling very good at the moment and I’m looking forward to my new challenge. The Ten Kate team is very experienced and has a very strong package with the CBR1000RR. Jonathan has proved that with his victories this year. I’m really happy of becoming a member of this team and I thank Honda for believing in me. Herewith I would like to say thanks to Alstare Suzuki for the great support during the last years and I wish the whole team all the best and a lot of success.”

Ronald ten Kate: “We were caught by surprise when we found out about Max’s availability. If a rider like Max is on the market you have to make use of this opportunity. We understand that Max may need some time to find his full race-craft again but we are quite sure that his talent, motivation and determination will get him quickly back up to speed.”
